The most beautiful performance at Grammy 2011 was Katy Perry’s Not Like The Movies

OMG (Oh My GaGa). Britney has released her first single from her long awaited album, Femme Fatale. It’s called ‘Hold It Against Me’ and it’s a total corker. To be more precise, it’s borderline amazing. Lets be clear here, this song is not a song that should be dismissed straight away as a crappy electro-pop track that kind of sounds like ‘Shattered Glass’ by the same artist (I, for one, am guilty for doing precisely that) but needs a few thorough listens to truly appreciate it. The song leads in with a thumping bass line accompanied by a ‘HAAAZZZZAAAAAYYY’ and Britney’s usual nasal sing/talk and takes a quick turn and ascends to new levels of amazing-ness as the second chorus builds into a mind blowing breakdown filled with sex noises and lip smacking (courtesy of Britney?). Of course Britney would have the most amazing breakdown ever in a song, I mean, she’s had to deal with so many in her life. *sighs* The song, produced by Max Martin and Dr Luke, can only be described as a true Britney track and has the right stuff to make some brilliant remixes!
BTW From now on, every pop song needs to contain a breakdown and did anyone else notice Britney’s British accent?
PS sorry about the rushed review. I wrote a rather long one but my iPad managed to delete it…

HHHHHHHAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY
Review of Hold It Against Me arriving shortly. (cue the sex sounds and lets have ‘Haaazzzaaay’ constantly repeating in the background…)
Hello, Followers! I apologise for the total lack of posts in the last 25 days, but it’s for the typical, exam related reasons.
Anyways, I thought I would write a post on Bruno Mars, that guy on the radio ALL THE BLOODY TIME. He topped pretty much every chart there was with his first single, ‘Just The Way You Are’ and then did it all again with ‘Grenade’. And now he has released his long awaited album, ‘Doo Wops and Hooligans’. Bruno Mars, before all of this was a very well respected producer and writer. He produced some awesome tracks with his team ‘The Smeezingtons’ (sounds familiar? - Get Sexy, F*** You and Nothin’ on You).
So what’s the album like then, you say. Well, it’s sometimes brilliant and sometimes a little annoying…I know that’s a bad way to describe a pop album, because they all follow in a similar pattern but to be honest, it is what it is. There are tracks that really stand out like ‘Grenade’, ‘Just The Way You Are’, ‘Marry Me’ and ‘The Other Side’ (All of which you will download now…NOW) and some that are truly cringe-worthy, ‘Our First Time’; which is about, well, his first time with a girl. ‘Talking To The Moon’ and ‘Liquor Store Blues’ are also guilty of being peeving me off.
But, you’ve gotta hand it to him, he is a brilliant song-writer and musician - in the album booklet it was stated that all the instruments on the record were played by him and that’s VERY rare nowadays (I’m pretty sure Britney* doesn’t know how to play a triangle, but it doesn’t matter cos she’s Britney*). In fact he is kind of epitomizes true talent in the industry, but sadly he lacks something pop stars require, and that’s charisma. After seeing live performances on youtube he lacks presence on stage - I spent half of the video staring at the person with the tambourine and wondering how much he gets paid for doing that. *sighs* If HMV’s profits have gone up this quarter it’s because of me…
DOWNLOAD NOW: Marry Me (potential 3rd Single)
The Other Side (potential 4th Single)
No 5th single because he needs to go back to the studio to record his sophomore album, this time get someone else to do the instruments and write songs that have more p’zaaz
*Will be reviewing her new single soon…
HAD MOTHERFUCKING EXAMS. If you have missed me, go listen to Do It Like A Dude by Jessie J.
Will see you in a week…
Well, 2010 has been an amazing year for pop. We’ve had some amazing newcomers (Ellie, Marina, Natalia, Diana Vickers), some not so amazing newcomers (Matt Cardle, Justin Bieber), some amazing comebacks (Robyn, Kelis, Nelly, Kelly Rowland) and some not so amazing comebacks (Enrique (debatable), BEP and Shakira (yes, I went there))
But let’s stay fixated on the positive! So what was the turning point in music of 2010 for me? Well without a second thought it would have to be this ->

It’s Kelis’s ‘Acapella’, if you’re too lazy to click on the link. But why is this song a turning point for me? Is it because I listened to it more than I studied for my A-Levels last year? Maybe. Is it because this song oozes out stuff that all newcomers and current superstars lack? Yes. Is it because this song was not only a good move, but was also a brave one? Yes.
It’s so easy nowadays to just take a brief look at a popstar and say ‘OMG she’s copying Lady GaGa’. But with Kelis, you just can’t do that, not because I will thrash you with GaGa’s ridiculous discostick but because there’s no evidence of it. Kelis is Kelis. And that’s that.
Now go educate yourself and buy Flesh Tone. NOW or I will fetch my discostick…
